May. 22nd, 2007 01:44 pmHeroes, One Season Later.
Hoo. I can't say I've ever been so dissatisfied to be right.
Okay, we can assume that the Petrelli boys are dead, which means they might, in fact, not be. Trust me, it makes sense.
It was strangely paced. And how close was Issac's studio to Kirby Plaza, anyway? Parkman hustles down there, finds nothing, sees painting, and still makes it back in time to be useless in the battle? With his donut condition, I find that hard to believe.
It seemed to be everyone tag teaming with Peter to beat Sylar, until Hiro showed up and ran him through.
Of course, it ends up that Hiro's prediction was based on faulty intel, since stabbing Sylar didn't do anything to stop the exploding man.
The highlight of the show was the end, with a preview of Heroes S2.Generations will bprobably go deeper into the previous generations of the Heroes universe. So we'll see Nakamura Sr, Claude (maybe), the Petrellis, Mr. Deveraux, and Lindrerman's 'adventures', although I wonder how much of it will be just them doing bad things.
One quick question: I've seen some people saying they thought Heroes was going to be a single season endeavour. Are these people retarded? Seriously, a network tv show in the US never stops, especially if it's successful. If Lost's ratings weren't wobbling on an axis, there's no chance they'd have gotten away with 3:16 and done. It's all about the bottom line.
I just hope Nissan doesn't get its fangs into the show quite as deep next year. The tital sequences will hopefuly still be clever.
Hopefully the novels are nice n' stuff. I notice they're asking if you've noticed the secrets in the interactive versions. Anyone found anything yet?

Sylar=Shredder?

Date: 2007-05-22 06:13 pm (UTC)I guess the one thing we can take away from this episode is that the Days of Future Past are not going to happen, since the city was spared from the EmoBomber. One theory I've read that I'm starting to support: Nakamura-Sama will in fact be Kensei.

Date: 2007-05-22 06:33 pm (UTC)My theory is this: We know that in the original timeline, Sylar kills Claire, so when Hiro stabs him, it doesn't do anything. I propose that originally, Sylar stops Nathan from flying Peter away. By keeping Sylar from killing Claire, Hiro allows Nathan to intervene.

Date: 2007-05-22 07:32 pm (UTC)Ah, poor Parkman. I maintain that his real super power is intense bad luck. I hope things improve for him, as I'm quite a fan of him and his "donut condition". :P *grins*
P.S. It looks however that since Greg Grunberg is shilling for Weight Watchers these days, he might be out to ruin his cute little bod.
The season ender did seem somewhat anti climactic. But I'm greatful for that over some stupid plot twist such as all the heroes suddenly morphing together to form voltron or some crud like that. I hate shows that are amazingly engadging only to have an incredibly lame ending.
Did the ending, or more accurately the beginning of Pt 2, make anyone else suddenly think of Army Of Darkness? :D
Originally I was guessing that perhaps Hiro's father was Kensei, and perhaps has his own power, (i.e. super longjevity, or perhaps uncontroled time travel and ended up in modern day japan), but yes I have to agree with stop_no_dont that based on this new information it looks like it might be Hiro himself.

Date: 2007-05-22 08:32 pm (UTC)Parkman did pretty well, I thought. He's got a one-and-one record for fighting Sylar, which isn't bad for a telepath cop with a doughnut condition versus the series megavillain.

Date: 2007-05-22 09:28 pm (UTC)So Parkman's 0-1-1 with Sylar. Not significantly worse than Peter's 1-1-1.
And Hiro got an assist on the win, too.

Date: 2007-05-23 12:15 am (UTC)One slightly funny note: the Entertainment Weekly boards don't tolerate use of the word "Peter," so just about every entry about the show goes like, "I was surprised ***** was the bomb!"

Date: 2007-05-23 01:16 am (UTC)Either way, you're right about Parkman's stats compared to Peter's.
The assist raises the question: did Hiro get the assist on Peter's win, or did Peter get the assist on Hiro's win? Hiro was the guy that stuck the sharp thing into someplace that bleeds and collapses.

I think what they're referring to is that the original thought behind HEROES was each season would be about a (mostly) different cast of characters, but that has since been shelved. They'll be bringing in new ones, but not getting rid of most, either.

Date: 2007-05-23 01:02 am (UTC)Alternate theory? The guy who plays Nathan didn't want to do a second season.

Date: 2007-05-23 06:01 am (UTC)I'm guessing, or possibly fanwanking, that when Peter starts losing control of his nuclear powers that the experience is so stressful or painful that he won't be able to focus enough to fly.
Which is why Nathan has to be the one to fly Peter out of the city, in a redeeming moment of self-sacrifice. Maybe :)
Called it :)

Date: 2007-05-23 08:18 am (UTC)Hurrah, people who don't think Parkman is a complete write off. ^_^ Hopefully the writers agree and I'll get at least another season of yumminess.
As for Nathan flying Peter up. Technically he could have flown him up, let go, and jetted the hell out of there, (he IS awfully fast). Peter would presumably explode, but Nathan could easily be out of the blast radius.
Since everything was off screen, there are 100 ways it could go.
Was anyone else totally baffled how everyone just let Sylar slime off into the sewers?
On another note, they are supposed to be introducing at least one new character next season. I hope we get another girl. Someone less all american blonde, and less angsty.
Oh, and Justin. They wimped out. The shapechanger wasn't more than 125lbs soaking wet. :P Lame.

Date: 2007-05-23 02:09 pm (UTC)Nathan and Peter are both elegible for ajudication under "no body, no death" rules. And Sylar, well, he's a supervillain. Do you think the cops would have been any better at holding him than PrimaTech?
I'm hoping for at least one black woman. Is that too much to ask for?
Yeah, Candice didn't appear to fulfill any plus size ambitions.

Date: 2007-05-23 02:21 pm (UTC)The same thought of Nathan dropping Peter once high enough occurred to me, although, one would think that even carrying him up there would give you a fatal dose of radiation. Peter can heal, and we haven't seen the last of him, but I would be hard pressed to find a way for Nathan not to be dead.
