So, a few weeks ago Cynra & I got into a discussion about accents and movies and lying to people, and I brought up Jean Reno's Elvis impersonation in Godzilla. She admitted, in one of those relationship breaker moments, that she'd never seen a movie with Jean Reno in it.

After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I tried to jog her memory by naming a few films. It did turn out that she could not recall seeing any films with him in it. Man, that hurt. [edit: It turns out we had both seen The Davinci Code last summer, which Reno was in. It's just that that was such a forgetable film that, well, we forgot.]

So last week I set the PVR to record The Professional. She watched it last week, and enjoyed it, thankfully enough. I don't know if I could continue to love a woman who didn't appreciate his rough edged Gallic charm. Maybe La Femme Nikita next.

In other news, a co-worker has requested I purchase for her a sub when I go to Subway. On this sub she has requested Buffalo chicken meant, hot sauce & southwest sauce on white bread. No veggies at all. I am filled with revulsion.

Not seeing Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerlich's "Godzilla" is like not having your head sawed off slowly in starts and stops with a blunt chainsaw.

However, not having sean Jean Reno in "The Professional" is a sad thing. Heck, most people saw the first Mission: Impossible. He was in that.

1) First off, don't confuse Cynra. Jean Reno was NEVER in a Godzilla movie. :P :P :P (No matter what Devlin and Emmerich tell you).

2) Get her to watch Wasabi. Very good. :)

That's shocking.

I have La Femme Nikita and Rollerball the remake (maybe not a good choice).

I thought you guys had seen The DaVinci Code. I have no intention to, but he's listed in the credits.

Regarding my ownership of Rollerball - Naveen Andrews pretty.

I can lend you both of them, but they're on VHS.

I think I saw him first in the only good (although very French ... slow ... ) Christopher Lambert movie, Subway.

On the other side of the acting spectrum, on the flight to Australia I saw Flushed Away ... he's the voice of Le Frog.

Subway is awesome, although Reno's part in it is quite small. However, the really good part of Subway is Galabru (the French Walther Matthau) who is mind-boggling funny. The rest of the film doesn't hold up all that well.

As for Lambert, Parole et Musique is OK (but I might have been pre-disposed to love it because Deneuve was in it), but in generaly you're on the money.

Reno is also in Frankenheimer's Ronin with De Niro, Stellan Skarsgaard, and Jonathan Pryce. Wow, talk about all-star cast.

And if you like creepy thrillers with a touch of violence, a touch of mystery, and a touch of creepy conspiracy, then I can also recommend "The Crimson Rivers" with Reno and that most whacked out of French actors, Vincent Cassel. (There was also a sequel, but I haven't seen that yet.)

Don't forget Sean Bean. Ronin is a great film.

Make her watch Big Blue - I love Reno in that.

If you can excise all the scenes with Rosanne Arquette, The Big Blue is pretty good. It's the first film I ever saw with Reno and he's fantastic and memorable in it.
