Surfing Ellis on Wikipedia, I stumble upon the listing for Pete Wisdom, another character of his who’s got his own book. Wisdom is fun, although I’m sure I’m missing a huge joke about Captain Midlands. A fairy named Tink is cute enough, and John the Skrull seemed like a fairly shallow joke until the third (second? can't remember)issue.

The base concept is that Wisdom runs an operations team for MI-13, the branch of UK intelligence that handles stuff that’s supernatural (although in the Marvel universe, that would be a lot of stuff).

I’ve found it to have certain similarities to Torchwood, only what it would be like if Captain Jack wasn’t an emo douchebag.

Let's not sell Captain Jack short - he's a Mary Sue emo douchebag.

I know this has been refuted all over the place, but Wisdom seems as much a Constantine knock-off as anything else.

On another front, have you read Peter David's new take on X-Factor? Surprisingly good.

Constantine just set the bar that high, is all.

Anyway, yeah, the first X-F trade is out, covering the debut arc. I think it reads much better in that format.

I don't quite grasp it all, but I'll read Paul Cornell re-writing a phone book.

A bunch of Doctor Who novels, including my favourite, Human Nature, and the Ninth Doctor episode Father's Day.
