Feh. Irritation begins to build. As has been the case for a few months, I'm planning on getting Cynra a copy of the Beauty & the Beast S1 DVD for Valentine's Day. So, last week I order. Turns out, with free shipping, I won't get it until almost March. If I choose a service that'll get it to me by VD, it will cost, and can ya believe this, as much as if I bought it at the stores at cover price.

Well, I think, fuck you Heather, and go to see what Future Shop will have it for. The exact same price, but I can request to pick it up at the store, saving shipping! Yay!

Only... I can't request to pick it up at the store.

Come ON, people! It's like a competition to see who can NOT have me give them money. I'll bet you fucking Wal-Mart wouldn't give me all this hassle.

edit: And, according to the review in the Star today, there are no extras on it. So I'm busting my butt to buy my wife a crappy version of a tv show she liked ten years ago.

I ran into the same problem with Best Buy when we wanted to buy our big screen tv. I had a 12% off coupon, that I could only use in the store where delivery would cost me almost $100 and came with no accessories. On line, where they had free shipping and threw in a surround sound system, I couldn't use the coupon, and they couldn't guarantee when they could send it out.

I finally got ahold of Bernie's, our small appliance chain, and got the whole thing, including delivery, for less than the 12% off would have been.

Viva la Revolution Libraria!

This is why I use Amazon... of course, no guarantees there eitehr. But Heather is a waste of time. Terrible stock, terrible service, terrible prices. Feh.

Yeah, Amazon is an American company but they didn't put the local bookstore out of business across Canada, so I'll give them my money when I can't make it to Bakka, Nicholas Hoare or a Book City. Fucking Heather.

GAH CHAPTERS.

I ordered a book from them for work on Monday using my boss's card, which I have to get from the office manager, who's only in part-time. (Next time I'm making a note of the number and keeping it.) Website says the book "usually ships in 24 hours". I then received 3 emails from them, as follows:

1. We've received your order, and we'll email you in a few hours with your order number and details. [*boggle*]
2. Thank you for shopping with us! Here are your order number and details. Your order will arrive on or before February 15.
3. Oops. We're out of stock, and we've cancelled your order. Haha! Sorry! Hope you'll shop with us again! Check back on the website to see if it's back in stock!

Website, incidentally, continues to claim it's in stock.

Their e-commerce leaves a LOT to be desired. Sorry, just had to share that.

I had the same thing happen to my amazon.ca order, except they dragged out the ordeal 4 months...

And that, my shiny-headed friend, is the true meaning of love. :-)

Sadly, I'm not even sure myself anymore. Let's say I'm not, for simplicity's sake.

Seriously, though, I do that sort of stuff all the time - track down stuff that somebody mentions they used to like a long time ago. Nostalgia can be a powerful force for good - or evil.

Pick it up at the store. It will be the same price as on the Future Shop website. You can't order it for store pickup until it's in the store (they just hold a copy they have, personal experience speaking)

You'll be buying your wife the one show she's loved with all her heart for ten years. If you don't, you may be sleeping with Vincent in the sewers. Which reminds me - I must mention it to my husband again.

I'm more concerned with the scratchy prints mentioned in the review than the lack of extras.

The question is, does she still want it? Cause I do. And she was always a much bigger fan than I was.
