My mother's cat has been known to dart out of a bedroom or away from a carpeted area when he has to throw up. He'll scratch frantically at the bedroom door, and when he's let out he runs for the bathroom linoleum.

But we've always suspected that he's really a dog.

Our youngest cat one time walked from the hall, which is wood, into the carpetted office and then yakked up a terrifyingly large amount of food in a straight line. Almost exactly a foot's worth.

This also holds true for dogs with Step 1 being the carpet rather than the chair. My dog would also add that carpets, preferably the softest, most luxurious ones, are great for wiping ones snout upon after eating.

Yeah, thankfully (?) our cats prefer to disgorge as close to the ground as possible, so we never find any messes on the seats.
