Book buying as masochistic endeavour
Jan. 29th, 2007 01:49 pmOkay. I REALLY want the Morrison New X-Men omnibus. Much more than I thought I did, because it's turned into such a chore to get it. Now, my FNSLCS is selling it for cover (i.e. $120 Canadain). So no. Dragon Lady has promised to sell it to me for less, but a strange quirk of physics has rendered them incapable of having a copy for sale when I'm in the store with money to buy. So, I start looking online.
If I go to Amazon.com, I can get it for
62.99 US. This is actually the best option so far, even if I do get dinged for GST & Customs, which is unlikely given what I've heard. Oh, wait. No free shipping. Fuckberries. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, except it weight is seven pounds.
While I can get it for$67.14 from Buy.com, they'll also charge me for shipping if I get it there.
Amazon.ca will sell it to me for $100.80, which is NOT a corrrect translation of the US price. However, I'd not have to pay for shipping.
Chapters has the best price, having it for $73.32, also with free shipping. This is, of course, fucking useless as it is out of stock. Thanks a lot, Heather, you whore.
They can also sell it to me for $67.05 used, so I dunno if that's worth it. It depends how 'used' it is, really.
Have I angered the saint of book buying? Am I a bad person?
