I know, but in Opera you can type a g and your search terms right into the address bar, and I'm so autoprogrammed to do it now. (Even though I have a potentially more efficient google bar less that two centimeters to the right.) Safari and Firefox might be totally capable of this, too, but I've not used the latest versions and thus would not know.
I admit it, I'm shallow but loyal in my browser affections. (Did I mention it had a pretty icon...?)
I guess I didn't mention that you can change/swap any icon in OSX ... ;-)
From a usability standpoint, I don't want my search terms to disappear when I make a search, as I presume they do when you do a search as you describe in Opera [the search term gets replaced with the URL that loads next, correct?] -- I often make a search, then revise it several times to narrow it down further to the results I want, so having my most recent searches appear in the dropdown box in the top right is very useful.
But I'm fine with shallow and honest. :-) I suggest Disco (http://discoapp.com/) as the coolest-looking app [not just the icon, the whole app] available for OSX right now -- the damned thing actually smokes when you burn a CD/DVD!

Date: 2006-11-13 03:42 am (UTC)I really have no solid reason aside from having google built into the address bar. Also, I find the icon to be prettier.
I also am so technical. ^_^
