I went to the library today and got a the CD for Graceland out of the library. Apparently it's an Enhanced CD, which means it has stuff on it. Apparently I need to install a 12 year old copy of Quicktime to see it.

Now, my current version doesn't seem to recognize it. Is it too old for me to see?

Is there any reason for me to use Firefox instead of Safari?

Oh, yeah

So, yesterday Cynra & [livejournal.com profile] atomiks and YHB headed out to Sheridan Mall Sherway Gardens for a shopping trip. Cynra's iMac predated the invention of DVD technology, so we decided that instead of getting me a new PC, we'd pick up a new iMac for the house.

A good choice, methinks. It's the smallest screen model, but we upgraded our RAM to 2 Gigs and I picked up Sim City 4, which is more in depth than I remember.

All sorts of fun, in any case. It's so much prettier on the living room table. And now I can use my dang ipod.

Anyone know of anywhere in town that would have Marine Mania, the second expansion for the original Zoo Tycoon game from Microsoft?

I've checked some online places, and Amazon.com has it for $9.99, while Amazon.ca has it for $29.99. Guh.

I'd love to know if anywhere in town has it, especially for $10-15.

Trying to open a rather large PDF right now. My PC is making a noise like a WWII era lawnmower desperately trying to catch. I need more RAM and possibly a fan.

Ah, well. At least if it explodes now, I won't have to worry about expo stuff.

Well, the machine has been fixed. Or rather, wasn't broken to begin with.

After a short trip in the snow (shocking, after a week of good weather, to get a sudden reminder it is still winter) to [livejournal.com profile] mr_weasel and [livejournal.com profile] mindrobber's w/ the sacred beast, chip meister Charles cracked it open and asked "what's the problem, eh?"

And, lo, there was none. We backed up a bunch of files, just in case, but it turned out there was nothing amiss. The cable leading from the router to the computer had gone snarky, so I unplugged it and plugged the cable from the modem to the router to the computer.

Problem fixed.

Charles tried Counterstrike, and found it not to his liking. A shame, but not everyone likes everything.

So, all is back to normal. Tomorrow, I will (still) be sick with a working computer. Perhaps I will finish my Apocalypse review! And my Bow, Kiss or Shake Hands piece!

Hey. If I want to set up my printer to print a PDF as two pages per sheet of paper, can I do so?

Another point: got a new loaner monitor from Mr. Z (apparently, he had one just lying aboot the house). It replaces my older, larger monitor that appeared to be showing everything in 3D, and I didn't have glasses.

I'm using it to watch this Trailer for a terrifying movie, the Lost Skeleton of Cadavara. I find myself unable to avert my eyes.

My speakers are on the fritz. The subwoofer is working fine, but the speakers themselves ain't doing bupkiss for me.

It's annoying. I think I may be on the cusp of my warranty expiring, which would suck.

I guess I'll get the missus to run them in.

Did the seasonal D&D game yesterday. I miss gaming more regularly. It was fun, and I got to kill a LOT of Orcs. Wheee.

So, went down to Pyat's today to fetch the second hand 21" monitor.

Crikey, it's huge. Isn't she a beaut? I'm gonna have to get something to support its weight on my desk (it is creaking, but not ominously).

But it's huge. Civ III is installing as I type.
