Yesterday, I found a post in which someone yelled at me for comparing architecture in Ottawa (which is a muddy hole, you know) to that of Washington D.C. It was an attack on all Americans, and illogical to boot since there is no possible connection between two neighbouring national capitals. It would be as absurd as comparing two different kinds of car, or candy bar!
Possibly, I should have taken this as a portent of things to come.
It's not easy to do that when you go through life wanting to believe the best of people. A million things go through your head:
"I should've seen this coming." (But how?) "Are they acting like this toward others?" (Usually.) "Am I the problem?" (No.) "What the heck is wrong with them, and why aren't they getting help for that?" (G-d only knows.)
Etcetera. Maybe the best thing that comes out of reading these kind of old posts is the realisation that we're the sane ones, and through comments that support us we find out that, thank g-d, we're not alone. :)
Going to and from a client's house in the evening, I was witness to three separate, really stupid lane changes, by people in vans. The first guy was driving a large cargo van. *Twice*, he didn't check his blindspot, nearly nailing two people. And, he was doing under the 80 on the Allan. Idiot.
Then, when I'm coming home, I'm doing a nice comfortable 20 over on the 401 Express lanes. Some really old Asian guy thinks that he can whip his minivan into the spot ahead of me. Uh...no! Farkwad. Lots of horn-honking and braking later, he finally realizes "Oh shit, I didn't check my blindspot, and there's somebody coming!", and the dangerously swerves back into his own lane.
I swear, I could smell my brake pads frying. Although, it was a hot day, and it could have been any number of other hydrocarbons wafting against my nasal passages.
Yeah, I just started retro-tagging myself. Fun kinda reliving the past sorta thing. Putting stuff in memories, too, which I've kinda never taken advantage of.
And then there's the perplexing mysteries of the posts that link to things (or have images) that aren't there any more, and there's not enough context from the post to figure out what it was.
Over a year ago. And the link is dead, and I just have no idea. :P I went ahead and deleted the entry, since there was nothing else along with it, and it was taunting me.

(Still wondering what "This is the funniest thing EVAR!" was, though. :P )
