Enterprise: Thank God it's over
May. 16th, 2005 06:43 pmI didn't watch the finale, but judging by this review by
khaosworks and the screams of horror from Snra afterwards, I didn't miss much.
I guess no sane person could really have enjoyed that finale.

Date: 2005-05-16 11:55 pm (UTC)In the finale, while seeing some of the old cast of TNG watching and commenting on events in "subjective Holodeck mode", I was struck by the sudden thought that I was watching an episode of Star Trek Voyeurism.

Episode opens with Riker and Troi standing in the holodeck.
Riker: Riker to bridge. The rogue holodeck virus has been destroyed.
Picard over communicator: Excellent work, Number One.
Troi: So Will, what should we do now?
Riker: Let's split a fudge sundae. In your room.
Troi: knowing smile
Cut to CG shot of Enterprise E warping out.
(shamelessly stolen from a comment on Slashdot)
Alternative finale 2
A group of annoyed Trek fans wants Enterprise cancelled, so they hire Mr. T and the A-Team to put Berman out of business. Okay, that's more like an A-Team episode about Enterprise but frankly I don't see any problem with it.
Bad.
Date: 2005-05-17 05:31 am (UTC)I knew it was going to be bad, however, as soon as I heard that Brannon and Braga had personally written the episode and directed it. It was definitely the worst episode of the season, and I think that includes the two aliens go back and help Nazi Germany invade the U.S. episodes.
However, Manny Coto put the show on the right track, they were building up to this alliance in a believable and interesting way. Trek's not dead yet, however it does have a pair of cancerous tumours that need to permanently removed.

Date: 2005-05-17 03:15 pm (UTC)Seconded. Countless hours of my life have been lost because of this show and my foolish ideas that the next episode will be better, etc. Up 'til now I'd always had Third Watch to rekindle my faith in television, but since its cancellation, I was forced to spend two hours of my time watching Enterprise. Thankfully I kept dozing off.
