Dear people in London;

You have some darn stupid people living up there.

Finished Deus Ex 2 the other day.

Kinda disappointing. They completely disposed of the skill system, and they eliminated different ammo. That was, admittedly, handy. I remember crawling around trying to find a few sniper rounds so I could take out a Templar or five.

There were three endings, again. I took the most obvious one.

I liked how the game ended where the first one began, on liberty island. You even get to travel into the old UNatco base. There was a lot of sense of continuity of setting between the first game and this one.

The game story was a bit of a letdown. Cairo was neat, and I actually left a few named NPCs alive. And I really loved the whole NG Resonance thingy.

For those at home who haven't played, NG Resonance is a pop star (think Madonna, but younger) who has holo kiosks all over the world. You can actually get mission assignments from them. It's a neat idea, and reminds me a little of something from Gibson, only not.

Gameplay was okay. I think the fact the rail gun/x-ray vision combo let me avoid 90% of combat was a bit hinky. Rocket Launchers were not as impressive as previously.

A few too many questions were answered (at least one or two prompting a response of "that's it?")

So, yeah. Fun to play, but too brief (took about a third as much time as KOTOR). Not as good as the original, but still more enjoyable than Shenmue II.

God, it's nice to have a day off. No getting yelled at by dumb people.

Did house hunting & yard work today. Also gave up on arguing about dumb stuff for at least an hour or two.

Yard work was good. It's great how just a little raking just takes off all the crap that's settled over the yard. We need to get rid of that damn deck and resod the backyard.

I'm gonna suggest to Snra. we rent a big ol' saw, cut it into pieces, haul it to the dump, rent a device that rips up and redistributes dirt, use it on the ground, lay paving stones, and sod the backyard.

I figure it's at most a weekend's work (with help from some people who I've helped move, perhaps) to make the backyard civilized.

I am also planning on at least three BBQs this summer. One in conjunction with a Halo fest, one as just another party, and a third for the game industry thingy [livejournal.com profile] pyat and I talked about at lunch one day.
