Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Sep. 17th, 2003 02:29 pmWent to The Moooovies with Mr. & Mrs. Z last night; grabbed dinner at Mega Wraps first. Their Philly Cheese Steak wrap is not so great. I give it two stars.
The movie is another matter. It was enjoyable. Rodriguez produces a strong final chord to his high violence/high action trilogy.
Enrique Iglesias does a good job as 'helping violent guy'. Ruben Blades as 'retired Fed' is also enjoyable. Johnny Depp... Well, it's another JD role. If you liked him in Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll like him in this. If you were sexually aroused by him in PotC, maybe not so much. His character is pretty much the main character of the film, more than Banderas 'El'.
Danny Trejo gets short shrift in this film; he should have been one of the lieutenants, but ends up a bit lower on the scale. Feh.
I am off to do some dishes, wait for the anaesthetic to completely wear off, and go cake shopping.
