You know, while the idea of setting up a shade tent and performing weddings during Pride next weekend sounds good, I really can't put together a good business plan.

Would they be able to get marriage licenses? Would I have to hire someone who's a clerk of the court? Where could I set it up? How friggin' much would it cost to get the tent and space? Is it even LEGAL for a guy who downloaded a certificate from the Universal LIfe Church website to perform a wedding in Canada?

Too many questions! WHy did they have to wait so long to legalize it!? Damn, I could use the money for GenCon.

Nope, sadly. I'm a ULC minister too. It's not quite recognized as a church in Canada yet; you need to be established in Canada over 10 yars before they let you have the power to ordain ministers that can marry in Canada.

So, no to that bit. It sucks!

Plan for next year!

Many couples will still be deciding whether or not to propose to each other in light of the new legislation. Start planning now for next year, it's a great idea!
