So, the time has come to ask, are you getting 4E? Are you not getting 4E? Do you not know exactly what the hell I'm talking about?

Not sure if I'll pick it up or not. To be honest, I haven't run (or participated in) a D&D game since 2nd ed. Yeah, I know, somebody wants to revoke my "geek credentials"...

I'm in the same place. The last game of D&D I played was in 1993, and the last time I enjoyed playing it was in the summer of 1992.

I downloaded them before it was released, realized that my interested in the game is so low that it wasn't worth reading the PDFs, and deleted them without even looking at them.

I have never lived in a place with enough other geeks around to get into playing this kind of thing. Someday I'd like to try it.

I have not done much roleplaying since the 1980's, once or twice at cons D&D only once.

This is a "I plan to get 4e if I can convince myself it will be fun for me and subset of my family" response.

I marked Slipcase and Other, because I've ordered the slipcase, but haven't received it yet. I made the decision late to commit, so I'm in a later wave of amazon orders.

We're more of a GURPS household, so I don't think we're likely to be picking up 4E anytime soon. :-)

I am getting them to stay current and possibly run and play games with the 4.0 ruleset but I'm not happy about it dammit.

There are like two system mechanics that are good there IMO..the rest is abomitable.

I hadn't intended on buying any of the books, but a few days before the release I got caught up in the buzz and decided I'd buy just the Player's Handbook. Then I saw the slipcover edition and lost my mind.

Happily, I haven't regretted it for a moment, and rather than "celebrating" the release with a Star Wars Saga game, I'm running H1 this weekend.

I picked 'Other' as I got the slipcase set as a gift on the most recent 'Day of the Dad'.

We downloaded the pdfs to determine if we want to buy it, and are basically disappointed. I won't be buying the books unless for some reason someone decides to run a 4e game. Based on our reading of 4e so far, I am not sure any of our friends will bother to run 4e - they'll just stick with 3.5 or run other systems.

Have the PHB and the MM so far, today I need to see if I can get an online order cancelled, if so, I'll be picking up the DMG after work.

My group has been excited about the rules for the last 10 months, and it looks like the game has delivered on everything we hoped for.

Other.

I may yet get them, but I'm in no hurry, with a 3.5 campaign that may run another year or more. I'll have a look at the books through friends who are getting them.

I am a strange other... I know D&D, I like it, but I've never played it and would place bets I never will. I enjoy watching others play it. (this goes for most things like that) I cannot decide if that makes me crazy or not.

We bought and sold 24 slipcases and more than an equal amount of the books individually.

We're non-standard that way.

I'm not going to get it mainly because I have enough other games I want to play that aren't D&D.

Don't have them yet, but I'm not concerned, as I'm toiling away in Meaford now, and haven't the time to really do much with it.

Two friends have their copies, though, and there was a lot of passing around of all the books when we played weekend before last.

Doug.
