Not sure if I'll pick it up or not. To be honest, I haven't run (or participated in) a D&D game since 2nd ed. Yeah, I know, somebody wants to revoke my "geek credentials"...
I downloaded them before it was released, realized that my interested in the game is so low that it wasn't worth reading the PDFs, and deleted them without even looking at them.
I marked Slipcase and Other, because I've ordered the slipcase, but haven't received it yet. I made the decision late to commit, so I'm in a later wave of amazon orders.
I hadn't intended on buying any of the books, but a few days before the release I got caught up in the buzz and decided I'd buy just the Player's Handbook. Then I saw the slipcover edition and lost my mind.
Happily, I haven't regretted it for a moment, and rather than "celebrating" the release with a Star Wars Saga game, I'm running H1 this weekend.
We downloaded the pdfs to determine if we want to buy it, and are basically disappointed. I won't be buying the books unless for some reason someone decides to run a 4e game. Based on our reading of 4e so far, I am not sure any of our friends will bother to run 4e - they'll just stick with 3.5 or run other systems.
I may yet get them, but I'm in no hurry, with a 3.5 campaign that may run another year or more. I'll have a look at the books through friends who are getting them.
I am a strange other... I know D&D, I like it, but I've never played it and would place bets I never will. I enjoy watching others play it. (this goes for most things like that) I cannot decide if that makes me crazy or not.
