thebitterguy: (Are you RETARDED?)
Anyone remember this post, where I said the comic under that cover would be one I wanted to own?

I was WRONG.

Oh, man. What a waste of 3.99 US converted. God. I feel dumber for having read that. I am even upset at the colourist.

Back to the grindstone tomorrow.

The past couple weeks have been fairly intense, and not quite the relaxing time off we'd been hoping for.

The trip out east for the memorial went well, and gave Cynra some tme with her family.

This weekend was fairly restive, and we got to visit some friends in Kay Dub for Avatar and several games of Race For the Galaxy. It does play a lot faster when everyone knows the rules.

I'm fairly exhausted right now. Hopefully a good night's rest will help put things straight.

  • 01:20 R4tG plays a lot faster on the second and third game. I think one of the players hit endgame a bit fast, but we all had a lot of fun. #

Cynra & I got back into Toronto from Nova Scotia early yesterday, and spent the day doing a lot of stuff.

New Years Eve was held at Pixel Barrel world HQ (and, if anyone is stuck on a birthday present for YHB, those Adipose figures? Cute as hell). Dinner was Chinese, and we played some Guitar Hero Eye Eye Eye before midnight, and tried [livejournal.com profile] styrofoam_guy and PB played some Trauma Centre. What a messed up game.

I'm pretty sure the nun in there used to kidnap children in Miyazaki movies.

The game is a lot of fun to play in a crowded room. It's a lot like a real operating theatre, if you replaced the anesthesiologist and nurses with raging myna birds who only know the names of surgical instruments.

Today I joined [livejournal.com profile] cinn48 for her annual NYD board game shindig, along with [livejournal.com profile] styrofoam_guy (him again?) and [livejournal.com profile] bnddbl07. We played Race for the Galaxy, and I think the estimated game time of 30-60 minutes is truly the greatest lie in human history.

It was a fun game, and I got to win, which was good. Slapping a consume turn on someone who isn't prepared to use it can be very, very dickish. I apologize, now.

Cynra & I watched the season finale of The Border. Wow. Quite a cliffhanger.

Now, Strombo Vs Palin. Sounds like a Hoo'd Win, eh?

Morning, and happy new year to the assembled masses. I hope the turning of the page finds you safe and happy.

And, because I'm a traditionalist, I bring to you the classic New Year's Day epic, The Origin of The Bitter Guy.

[livejournal.com profile] umario has been studying in Sweden. He has developed an affection for Swedish food in tubes.

Beneath this cut: food in tubes )

At ACB, and I'm working on not killing [livejournal.com profile] umario.

Turkey is cooking, and the DL for the Christmas Special is annoyingly slow.

Have finally found A Blackadder Christmas Carol on the dvd set, and I will now go watch it. They keep it very well hidden.

There are a disturbingly high amount of foods from Sweden that come in tubes. Disturbingly high. I mean, cheese with smoked reindeer? Who wants to squeeze that out of a tube?

Swedes, that's who.

They also have a variety of candies that are strange, plus a Christmas themed soda pop that is not an adequate replacement for Holiday Spice Pepsi.

On the plus side: Aquavit. If I'm not fond of it, I can use it to disinfect things.

Cynra got me Rock Band 2, and I got her Lips, so that'll be fun. I wonder if the microphones are compatible?

Quiet day, in all. Happy Xmas.

In spite of the unpleasantness of yesterday (and the subsequent scrambling; I'd like to offer a nice "fuck you" to the airlines of the world) this morning was very nice. Snow's falling like big fluffy balls of holiday, and the CBC is playing Christmas music.

They just played this tune, in fact.

My friend Laurie has made it an annual tradition to get me a pop cultural Mr. Potato Head figure. This years addition is Artoo Potatoo.

May you get an eyeful of fun this holiday season. And I hope you don't get fried. Or mashed for that matter. Or get a virus that decimates Ireland.

Feel free to get baked, should you so desire.

I think it's already here in Australia.

Anyway, in spite of the rough start the morning got off to, I'm looking forward to the day.

Here's a special Christmas message from Jonathan Coulton.
