So, yeah. JLA 172 was the first comic I recall reading.

If there was EVER a book less suited to be someone's first book, this was it. Second part of a two parter featuring a crossover between the JLA & the JSA.

And yet, boom. I was hooked. The story was a murder mystery set during one of the JLA/JSA crossovers, where Mr. Terrific I was killed.

What's amusing is that the character who did the killing is actually BEHIND Batman.

Apparently I didn't start reading comics until I was six. Huh.

Is anyone suprised, btw, that Darwyn's first book was an Army Guys vs Dinosaurs book? The first chapter of The Last Frontier kind of gave that away.

Doesn't that one end with the rest of the team stuck on the JLA satellite after The Flash speeds into the teleporter and escapes, leaving somebody to ask 'So, /now/ what do we do'?

That was one of my first comics, too. I think it was the token 'big comic' in a 'grab-bag' from Excaliber Comics in Etobicoke, although I cherish my copy of 'ROM, Spaceknight' #2 from that bag far more. n.n

I don't remember the specific copy but I do remember the image on the cover.

It was the Teen Titans they were in a dark forest and standing back-to-back with each other. I'm gonna guess maybe 78' or 79

I was chuckling when I saw that.

My very own first comic book at least that I remember: http://en.marveldatabase.com/Punisher_Volume_2_28

Is it small wonder that with very few exceptions I don't read comics anymore?

My first comic was one where Spiderman went to a Toronto Blue Jays game.

Hiho,

Ha, I had the Montreal Expos version of the same comic, I think. :)

I used to LOVE the JLA/JSA Crossovers... Looked forward to them every year.

Someone in my stepfather's family, geez I don't even recall who it was, but we visited them now and again, and he had a room piled high with comics - this would be when I was about, hmmm, 8 I guess (i.e. 1979)? They'd just dump me in there when we visited, and I was happy as a clam. Which is probably why I don't remember anything about the place other than that room.

There were a bunk in there, but this is the one I kept re-reading over and over:

I'm sure I read some comics before that, but this is the one I remember. And yep, it's Wolverine's first appearance.

Though never into comics, I probably have a few tucked in a box somewhere. My first one that I remember holding onto was Snarl Comics #3 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Snarl-1990-3-NM-comics-book_W0QQitemZ150228101740QQihZ005QQcategoryZ77QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247). Monte later found me #1 and #2. I positive that I still have all three of them. They were humorous, they were in black and white, which I hadn't seen that often, and they had a boob shot, which was the first one I had ever seen in a comic, or possibly ever. My Uncle Glenn gave it to me. Made in Canada, I believe.
