Wow. Not how I thought that would go down. Did Prentice suddenly develop a backbone? Or did his masters in Washington decide to let this one through, just to keep up appearances?

Either way, I hope this turns out for the best. I'd hate to see us dump the majority of the Canadian space program for a fire sale price.

I love that last week, when the NDP were looking at legal actions to block this sale, commentators called Jack Layton "Fidel Jack" and wrote it off as yet another NDP attempt to meddle with private affairs.

Wonder what they'll call this, then.

When the Ottawa Business Journal is taking concerns over US meddling in Canadian Arctic sovereignty seriously (http://www.ottawabusinessjournal.com/316870351755287.php)...I'm not sure that they'll let up on the name-calling targeting Mr. Layton, but they may shut up about the "meddling in private affairs" for awhile.
