You know, I've never watched the X-Files beyond season 2, but I'd probably go and see that, simply because it's got Billy Connolly in it. Funniest man alive (I've seen him do his stand-up live three times now), who's also a damn good serious actor.
It is a little odd, but it's mostly about timing. When it was on, in the early 90s, it was in the days before shows were out on DVD (actually, it was before DVD was even invented). My flatmate at the time was a rabid fan, and taped it every week off TV, so I watched them when I could. But from about season 3 on, I seemed to miss the episodes, and just fell too far behind. After that, I never got around to watching them all.
I've been tempted to buy them all on DVD now they're available, but the cost of buy in to get all 9 seasons is a bit high.
True, dat. They have released them in much more affordable versions now (they used to be more than $100 Canadian for a boxed set, now it's closer to $30), and you can always do it a season at a time.
Seriously, though, if you only get one season, three is the way to go.
They just did some press junket thing for this here in the 'Couver. Gillian Anderson couldn't make it because she was sick, and David Duchovny described Vancouver as "one of the cities he's lived in." Yeah, thanks for coming out there, David!
