Remember that scene in the Rambo trailer when he shoots the driver of a truck in the back of the head with some large caliber weapon imounted on the back of the truck?

That's how I feel after reading this Onion AV Club article about nerdy pop culture obsessions.

Ouch. It's like shaving with a cheese grater, it stings so bad.

At least they left off Babylon 5. I still have SOME dignity.

edit: yes, yes, who needs to have their opinions and hobbies validated by a bunch of strangers who write for The Onion, blah blah.

Isn't reading The Onion itself right up there in the top 10 of nerdy pop culture obsessions?

That Rocky Horror photo was taken in Australia.

I am so proud.

I'm glad they pull no punches frankly. It's what made the Onion great in the first place.

...and if anyone needs a "schooling" these days it's us geeks IMHO.

What, a bunch of superior 'net nerds shitting on other people's hobbies? No thanks, I can get that from LJ, without ads and far more entertainingly.

This article is reason number #330123 to hate the Onion, helpfully demonstrating reason number one: snotty writing. I know guys like this; they dress liked "nerds" to be "ironic" never realizing the joke's on them.

Hmm, only 9 of 20 for me. I think I'll use this as a 'to do' list. :)

Seriously, though, a little introspection is all nice and well, but I preferred this list the first time. When it was called 'Otaku no Video'.

I don't think they know the difference between a nerd and a geek.

Fantasy Sports Leagues? That's nerdy.

Wow. The Internet finally coughed up something that I have trouble believing in. My brain still is having trouble accepting that such a thing can exist. That's not happened in a long, long time.

(For reference, it was the words "Garfield fanfic" that did it).
