So, imagine my surprise when I walked into my FLGS today to see if they had Illuminati (NO!) to learn that they were having a signing with Gail Kim, Christie Hemme & Ms. Brooks tomorrow.
That's kind of awesome. And they're only $10 each (or all three for $25).
Sure, a shame they have to sign at a small town D&D shop, but hey. Shame Kong won't be there.

Date: 2008-02-03 02:58 am (UTC)I never have understood the whole paying for an autograph thing. The only autograph I've ever paid for was Hack Myers, at a MLW event, but all the proceeds were going to a local charity that his mom was involved with/started/something like that.

Date: 2008-02-03 03:05 am (UTC)Oh, I know it's common these days; I just grew up on the comic book/trekcon/wrestling circuit where you didn't shell out money for an autograph, except maybe a few bucks for a glossy pic for them to sign for ya. (But, if you had your own pic or an autograph book or whatever, it was free. I know these days, you're still going to pay even if you bring the item/media being signed.)
Then again, I have Nancy Sullivan (Benoit)'s autograph on work stationary... (back when she and Kevin were still married, they were customers at my ex-wife's place of employment.)
