Whatever happened to?
Jan. 28th, 2008 10:51 amI woke up this morning thinking "Man, I wonder what happened to Dave Pulver?"
Okay, actually I woke up this morning thinking "if I killed the morning host for the CBC, would I get convicted by a jury?" God, I hate that guy.
Anyway, after flipping through GURPS Y2K for a bit, I wondered "Man, what's happened to Dave Pulver?" I think it's been about a decade since I've seen him; we were at Anime North, back when it was still held in a U of T building. He and his brother were there doing their stuff (Dave was there as a Guest, his brother was there to playtest/promote a card game he'd developed). I hung out with them and Peter Donald (status: Missing in Central America) and got a ride with them back to Napanee. Peter took me to visit The Worldhouse, which was at this point on its last legs, being mostly a place where a cat hung out while dreams slowly died.
Anwyay, I googled him and found his web page (no blog, Dave?) and took a look through it. Doesn't appear to have been updated in a couple years, although it's possible he's just living the high life in Victoria on Steve Jackson royalty checks.
The most interesting thing was something I found on his published works page.
Dude. A Muppets MMORPG. How awesome would THAT have been?

I was also involved in the initial stages of several other projects, which ranged from a Lost in Space interactive web site to a massively multiplayer Muppets roleplaying game. My favorite was a computer adventure game based on Gregory Benford's Galactic Center series of hard-sf novels (e.g., Great Sky River). However, Hollyworlds shut down its game development division before these projects could see the light of day.

Date: 2008-01-28 06:01 pm (UTC)I wonder if there's as high an amusement factor to be found in reading the second ed GURPS Ultra Tech as there was in looking at the Top Secret SI "Guns, Gadgets & Getaway Gear" book.

They can take the new, 'hip' CBC Radio and shove it up Harper's ass, for all I care.
