I think honestly that "Cloverfield" is only an okay movie, but it's a really good theater experience: i.e. it's best seen in a packed theater. I think once people watch it at home alone or with one or two people, they're going to be "Hmmm...this isn't quite as good as I remember."

You see, I don't HATE it. It's not BAD. It's just ultimately not anything special, and it had a lot of problems that could have been fixed very simply.

Ah, ok. That's a fair point. On a similar note, they may find that the buildup hype was part of what made their experience as well.
