The film had a saving grace. No, not that Statham's farmer character was named Farmer.

No, this film had a king played by Burt Reynolds with a cadre of shinobi.

It was, in fact, too awesome for this movie. It's like Uwe looked at the LotR movies and thought "Hey, how hard could it be? Just go to a wild, uninhabited country and give John Rhys Davies bad dialogue!"

Well, mission accomplished. Mission, BC, accomplished, perhaps. The shamelessness extended so far as to giving the 'brotherhood' (which has half dudes, half hotties, and which was together for a total of 8 minutes) a "walk over the hill" shot.

This was apparently made back in '05, before the German Tax Laws were reformed.

Surely his Hunter film will be just as enjoyable.

Boll hasn't been on the Hunter movie for a long time.

Burt Reynolds with ninja minions? That is several flavors of awesome.

Somehow I'm sure that single fact must have sucked all potential awesome out of all other films that he can ever make in the future.

Or maybe he's somehow getting better...

It was definitely incongruous. It in fact kept you from enjoying the ninjaliciousness because of the fact that it made no sense.

That, and the giant castle had, not a road, but a pair of wagon ruts leading to it.
