"This story is a hoax. And sadly, its believability is due more to Hollywood's utter lack of imagination than any cleverness on our part. Just let it go already."

Woulda helped if I had read that.

Thank God.

You're kidding, right? This is some sort of wacky Boxing Day joke?

I thought it looked photoshopped but you never know, so I checked on IMDB and there are no Thundercats movies in the works. :)

You could have just looked at the bottom of the article. :-)

Nah, too much effort. Noone ever reads an article all the way through. :)

When did Esquire become The Onion?

No, no, you see, "Esquire" is often intentionally funny!

Sad but true. I'll sometimes peruse an entire new issue of The Onion and not chuckle a single time.

Honestly, I always found it tiresome, even in high school. There's only so arch one can be before the joke ceases to be funny.

Ironically, their "serious" material, like the AV Club, is generally pretty good.

Oh wow, I loved it to death in its prime! From the surreal ("Christopher Reeve Placed Atop Washington Monument") to the... uh... observational ("Dildo Washed," "Sperm Don't Know They're Swimming Up Large Intestine"), from the pieces where they utilize the stilted language of newspapers to great effect ("Area White Man Enjoys, Causes the Blues") to the pieces where they subvert your expectations by using mundane, everyday language ("Five Or Six Dudes Jump Out Of Nowhere And Just Start Whaling On This One Guy"), I was obsessed with The Onion for a few years!

You make baby Jesus cry.

You see, none of that ever cracked me up. The problem generally is there isn't any HUMOR there. The headlines give away the joke, which is itself rarely funny and more often than not mean-spirited and just a wee bit self-righteous.

Ironically, the founder, one David Dickers, I believe, made a really funny movie called "Spaceman".

I do agree that often the actual article is redundant (I've long thought a collection of headlines would bee fun.)
