From Hitman, pg 340:

Dorit said that when astronaut Neil Armstrong visited the city and was told that these were the very steps that Jesus climed on his way to Golgotha, Armstrong said that it was harder for him to climb these steps than it was for him to walk on the moon.

Not to harsh on Neil's religious experience, but wouldn't that be because the moon is only 1/6th Earth's gravity?

How could she have possibly stopped them, though?

Yes, but they'd blow up mid-shot and crash onto Vladivostok, killing millions. WILL THEY RISK IT?!?

She couldn't have, but NASA has always been adverse to negative publicity and even when a crackpot launches a frivolous suit like O'Hair did, they still cringed a little.

Anyway, it was just a wild theory. I'm sure the truth of it is probably pretty prosaic.
