Oh, my God, there is SO MUCH recording industry propaganda in there, especially the bogus statistics about CD sales and the "top five excuses for downloading", which is 100% deceptive, half-assed bullshit. You'd think they'd have learned from their constant mistakes to learn a new tune, but nope, the industry and their apologists are still peddling the same old crap. The stuff from the CRIA guy about how CDs don't cost as much as they should, in particular...I mean, he's just lying. It's not spin, or difference of opinion, or perspective, or whatever: it's just an agglomeration of flat-out lies.

Yep, because Music World was TOTALLY an independant. Isn't there proof or an article somewhere about how past owners more or less were setting the chain up to fail?

My favorite part is this from the "Top Five Excuses" article (mostly because I refuse to buy CDs unless I ::gasp:: LIKE THE MUSIC ON THEM):

"We've asked Canadians: What was the last record you bought? Was it good? And people say that 75%-80% of the tracks on the record were good ... So then you ask: Who is it that has the crappy records? And they say, 'Oh, well, it's people like Britney Spears.' And when you ask if they bought those records, they say no. So what's the problem then?"

Because you have to buy the record in order to call it crappy. How DARE we judge an album by the promotional videos and radio airtime. How DARE we use logic to determine that a Britney Spears album is going to have a high chance of being complete garbage. People can't think for themselves! BUY MORE CDS!

The latest Britney Spears album, by the way, is completely awesome garbage. Top to bottom, it delivers exactly what someone who want to listen to Britney Spears expects: dancey-sexy pop. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is the biggest load of shit. If the *only* thing that tells you an activity is "wrong" is the legality of it, the activity probably isn't that wrong to begin with.
