Whatever Cynra had last week (which has just been upgrade to a sinus infection) I've got. Feel much like poo. Spent time at parents this weekend. Finally got myself a copy of Settlers of Cataan. Also beat Qusay's score on Popout, which made me happy.

Feh. Going to bed. See you in a few days.

Settlers of Catan

Hopefully you were able to get one of the "old" editions of the game, sold at a some discount to make way for the "new" (and somewhat over-priced) edition from Mayfair?

Nah, it was the new edition, but it was for credit.

Well, that's OK then. I highly recommend the "Seafarers" expansion, but not the "Cities & Knights" expansion, nor the series of "5 and 6 players" expansions.

"Cities & Knights" is reportedly OK, but it turns the game into one that's about twice as long and much crunchier (i.e. a different game), and there are most probably better examples of those sorts of games you can spend your money on.

"Seafarers" is actually a worthwhile expansion: it adds variety to the game and some interesting new features, without a huge cost of increased time or complexity.

Oh, and don't let anyone fool you: "Settlers" is a four-player game. Full stop.

So playing two or there players is not good? And definitely not the 5 or six player versions?
