Fantasy Hero

For some reason, everytime I pick up that book, I get a weird giddiness.

Anyone local got any interest in playing FH? Anyone running a game?

I'm just wondering. No plans are being made or anything.

Our group briefly toyed with the thought of Fantasy Hero for our next extended thinggy. Instead, we settled on Greg Stolze's Reign. Even in our regular group of HERO die-hards, the enthusiasm for using HERO for fantasy gaming is not tremendously high. I think there's at least one or two in our group who are happy to play Champions, but using HERO for any other genre seems to be distasteful for them.

I don't know why, really. Historically, I think we've found that the tactical system really hums with SPD ranges of 4 to 6, and that SPD 2 and 3 characters are just not that interesting. However, I wonder if what's important is the spread of SPDs in the action and not necessarily the absolute value... if the spread is SPD 2 to 4 instead of 4 to 6, is that also less fun? (I can attest that it's no fun being a SPD 3 character in the midst of a tactical situation where everyone else is SPD 4 to 6.)

Oh, and yes, I have interest in playing Fantasy Hero. 8)

Hmmm. So that's one person who would.

I'm just feeling like I have too many Hero books to not do anything with them.

Oh, I'll use them eventually... I still haven't gotten ahold of Post-apocalyptic HERO, but I suspect I shall.
