So the WGA has hit the picket lines (I enjoy getting updates from union guys Mark Evanier and Joe Whatsisface).

While I would never hope for prolonged labour disputes, this will probably give me a chance to watch those darn B5 and Arrested Development DVDs.

Hey, who's up for watching Firefly!?

I so need to START Firefly... and I would, except we have no power at home. D:

Running the laptop computer off of battery power, huh?

I've done that during blackout season, too. Not fun.

I made that post at the office. I only knew about power cut because I had to phone my sister.

Sadly... it wasn't a weather related blackout, although we have the power back now. D:

Or watch reruns of shows missed previously.

I can rewatch seven seasons of Buffy, five of Angel and nine of The X-Files. Plus a stack of Bollywood movies and shelves and shelves of other dvds. I should be good for awhile.

I will miss Jon and Stephen very much, though.

I'm there with you for the Firefly DVDS, and it's about time you got around to the Babylon 5 DVDs, too! :)

Me? I'm off to watch some of the old, classic film noir movies. :)

I completely disagree with you. B5 is very strong when re-watched in large chunks, although the first season is the weakest of them (but one has to take the view that the first season was the one where the laying of the pipe for all future plots and developments happened.

The cohesiveness of Babylon 5 when watched on DVD is remarkable, since it has none of the interruptions that one experienced on television, and the fact that the episodes are in the right order for watching as well.

Ymmv, of course. :)

Not at all, Justin...

B5 was the first science fiction series to do the story arc as well as they did it, and it was a remarkable feat. That's why folks who came into the show after the first or second seasons didn't get what was going on. The story arc was what made B5 so special.

The acting on the series was never that bad, and got better in the second season. While most of the cast from that point on was very good, you can't tell me that Peter Jurasik and Andreas Katsulas weren't brilliant throughout.

Different strokes, different folks and all that. :)

But if you feel this way about the series, why on earth did you buy the B5 DVDs?

"She walked up Serenity's boarding ramp, her hips waving a happy hello."

"I knew she was trouble from the moment she read my mind."

:D

No, no, you need to think Western, not noir. :)

You're watching B5 too? Neat :) I'm just part way through season 2 right now.

I can do that :) I need time to sit and think it through but maybe this weekend I'll have some time to make a somewhat insightful post :)
