Why the hell it's so hard to find a friggin' lab coat in this damn town?

Had the same problem in Mississauga last year: we hit paydirt at a store called 'Hollywood Tickle Trunk' (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=internal&addtohistory=&latitude=q72tcvdkhSCS%2fD4fU21yfA%3d%3d&longitude=wuzDLDx9f7qM5Xweq7Qkgw%3d%3d&name=A%20Hollywood%20Tickle%20Trunk&country=CA&address=136%20Watline%20Ave%20%231&city=Mississauga&state=ON&zipcode=L4Z%202E2&phone=905%2d212%2d7772&spurl=0&&q=tickle%20trunk&qc=Costumes) in Mississauga - they had an OMG real lab coat, and the price was perfect. You might want to give them a call, if the drive wasn't too offputting, and see if they had any again..

I have one.

Mind you... we're not in the same town. Check a science bookstore around the UofT campus... they're bound to have lab coats.

Obviously, I'm not in the same town... but I ended up buying my labcoat (for a mad scientist costume) at a medical clothing supply company (they sold lab coats, scrubs, that sort of thing).

Because Cruella DeVille decided she'd look better in solid black than in black and white?

Call U of T's bookstore, and see if they sell them in the medical section. Ensure you get one a size bigger than you think you need (ie. the smallest I would suggest for you would be an XL) as you want something roomy, and most lab coats are designed to be a little snug (so you don't catch your sleeve in a bunsen burner or drag it across a petri plate).

Failing that, contact a uniform supply company (the ones that supply nurse's scrubs, hospital greens, etc.

I no longer have my lab-coat(s), and I don't use the hospital supplied ones any more myself. In fact, they are banning MDs in the UK from wearing either them or ties as they are pretty potent vectors of infection.

I got one at the York bookstore a few years back for a costume. Any school that has a nursing/med tech/veterinary department will probably have a place to buy those on campus.

I bought mine at Carleton in the chem department years and years and years ago - it was required for second-year chem that you wear one. Of course, mine is with me here in the 'Couver, which doesn't do you much good, but as others have suggested you might want to call the university bookstores for UofT and York. Also try the George Brown bookstore, I seem to recall they had some when I was in there once...

Your town must have an unusual concentration of mad scientists, such that they have cleared out the entire stock from everyplace that would carry them.

Soon, the young up-and-coming mad scientists will be declaring revenge against not only the fools that mocked their theories, but the fools that beat them to the lab coats. They will pay. They will all pay.

Have you tried Mark's Work Wearhouse?
I bought scubs there and noticed they carry lab coats as well.

McMaster University Bookstore carries them, so any place that teaches science majors would be a good guess.

The simplist things can be so tricky to find. Last year I wanted a plain white apron that I could bloody up for my American McGees Alice costume and it took me ages to find a plain one. Everything I found had cutesy pictures on them.

Don't give up! Ummm maybe find out where University students get theirs, a lot of science students at my school had lab coats so they were accessible somewhere... maybe in the University store even.
