Okay, I know this is a strange question. I'm sorry. But I went to Catholic school, so I'm wracked with guilt everytime I even THINK about doing something that might be against the rules. This is a benediction.

The Milton RCSS has there parking spots put aside for hybrid vehicles. I have a Smart Car. Is it kosher for me to park there?

Pleast stop laughing. I'm very neurotic. I know that.

Hey, if I"m lucky I get an email back from Galen Weston.

I'd think there ought to be a way to make it kosher.

And thanks for buying one of those.

I went to school with him. Or rather, I went to a private Christian school for one year with a kid named Galen Weston who would be the exact same age as Galen Weston Jr. now.. and how many people are named Galen?

He was in my Doctor Who RPG group.

SmartCars are not hybrids.

Not even a little bit.

That would seem to answer the question.

Ultimately, the answer is an emphatic "yes." Unless there's some sort of bylaw that says you absolutely have to meet the arbitrary parking restrictions imposed on an otherwise very pleasant parking lot. ie. If your municipality has some sort of bylaw regarding places designated for compact cars and those bylaws happen to apply in this parking lot and they designate those spots accordingly.

In the same way that the pink "expectant/recent mother" spots are a courtesy, you could choose to ignore the restriction on hybrid vehicles and park your Smart"Car" in that spot. I suppose they could have it towed... but I doubt they'd bother: Johnny/Janey Watchestheparkinglot probably couldn't distinguish a hybrid vehicle from a normal person's car.

Only if you park two of them there.

If it's that smart, it ought to know the answer.

I think it is smart to drive a smart car.
I also think it is smart to support a Canadian company vs. the Wal-marts ( and all the ugliness that comes with that company). So yes I think you should park your smart car in that spot.
You are a smart person.
