How do you know that some Canadian bookstores aren't pulling similar games against smaller publishers?

I strongly suspect that larger publishers offer 'discounts' to larger retail chains that the smaller independent bookstores don't get offered.

That makes sense, if only because of the scale of orders they can make.

Remember, there's only one large bookseller chain left.
