And so I finished the book yesterday, and that was fun. Who would have thought that Harry and Hermione would be Voldemort's twins?

One of my co-workers actually spoiled me for a plot twist (an unsurprising one, mind you) by asking if a statement in the Wikipedia entry was right. I don't know, said I! But it probably is!

Now Cynra gets to read it, which will take a while. Did you know that she was reading Half Blood Prince onboard the actual Hogwart's Express? Okay, she didn't actually READ it on the train, as she was too busy admiring the highlands. But she probably had it WITH her.

I've resumed Soon I Will Be Invincible. Yay!

I just heard that Pirate Master has been cancelled. I honestly don't care, as it once again was a reality show starring dicks. The ghost pirates bit was nice, though.

I've forgone reading POTTER 7:THE SHOE FINALLY DROPS for THE GOLDEN COMPASS and can strongly recommend it, burning through it these past two days and only leaving 100 pages to go.

It's going to be a fun film this Thanksgiving Yankee and I can't wait to see the brou-ha-ha when the Yankie Fundies realize that the humans in the series who don't have a Daemon familiar joined to their souls are the ones who are treated as if they're handicapped in the series.

I saw "Soon I Will Be..." at Chapters last time I was waiting for a movie - I've wanted to read it.

I won't know about the trades til I get to work. I'm assuming beforehand that both of those are a "No" right now, tho.

I was chatting with the salesgirl in Walmart about it yesterday and she isn't done it yet but someone had told her that Ron dies. I simply told her that any rumours she's heard are untrue and that she'll be surprised by the deaths.

Hedwig, Madeye Moody, Fred Weasley, Lupin and Tonks and Snape. Oh and of course Voldemort. People may have guessed some of these but we were all prepared for much worse and it never came.

There was apparently a psychologist or someone offering counselling in advance of the book's release for parents to take their children to after they'd read the book in case they were too upset.

But overall, it is a kid's book and the hero and all the major characters have to live happily ever after. We've all watched too much Buffy and expect the people behind the scenes to be looking for how much they can hurt us so when nothing too too bad happens we're disappointed little masochists. LOL.

Yes, and Harry being Boarding-School-Superachiever while Neville is "good kid who manages despite a horrific upbringing" seals that deal.

Go read what I just posted and you tell me. :)

Also, if you go back now and read some of the observations I made about the last book comparing it to the end of Buffy, it's Buffy, Willow and Xander going off to lead a normal life at the end of the book.

I'm so glad for all the kids that Joss did not write this book.

I thought the same Scoobie thoughts. Though the last line made me think of Sebastian Haff in Bubba Ho Tep, and that was too distracting.

Pirate Master got cancelled? Awwww. Now we'll never know which among the extremely unlikable people got to be Chief High Mucky-Muck Of No Crew But Themselves.

YOUR DAY IN THE SUN IS OVER, BURNETT.

hehe I like that.

However, that said, Pirate Master wasn't all that bad, and had some interesting personalities among the folks on the ship. The fact that it seems none of the pirate crew even felt like rebelling (although having to get the Captain's mates to go along with it hinders that process, imo) , even though it was talked about several times, annoyed me no end. But yeah, I do think that Mark Burnett' time in the limelight is gone.

On the other hand, do you think there's all that much great stuff on tv these days?

I think the ghost crew totally screwing up killed "Pirate Master", that and it was real boring overall.

I was thinking the story would have been more interesting if they had gone ashore at real islands in the Caribbean ala Amazing Race.

I was disappointed at how predictable it was.It wasn't a bad book just pretty predictable. The only death that made me truly sad was Dobby's.

I thought Hedwig's death was handled particularly callously - "Oops, my owl is dead, what's for supper?" But I find that in general death seems to be somewhat glossed over in the HP books. I mean, he's a teenager, people keep dying all around him, and he just keeps going? He's like the energizer bunny and the grim reaper rolled into one.
