[livejournal.com profile] aarondb has posted his (mildly spoilery) thoughts on the new Transformers movie, and I'm excited. And it got me thinking a little bit about the predecessor film.

You know, I think I've figured out why everything post Prime's death in the original TF film sucked: I didn't care about any of those characters. The only character left I gave two shakes of an energon cube about was Bumblebee, and he only showed up at the end. Seriously, the Junkions? The Sharkticons? The Transformed Decepticons? Je ne pense pas. Oh, yes. We also had the Dinobots. God, spare me from the robotic morons of the spaceways.

I got sold a bill of goods that said Transformers, and I got a little of that (okay, a LOT of that for a very short time) but after that, it was like the pilot for a new show.

It's like going in Generations and not knowing it was really a Next Gen movie. And without Kirk at the end.

Yeah. My resistance was shaken when I saw a video made of the animated movie's theme and the CGI movie's trailer(s). It's on YouTube somewhere. But after that, yeah, I'm officially Looking Forward To It, Kinda.

I confess to being totally on the wrong side of the fence viz. the Transformers. I missed the boat on that one, despite it being "my generation".

Am I really missing out?
