Vinnie Mack just walked to the ring here in Toronto, and what did the crowd say? A resoundng chant of "you screwed Bret".

Good memories, those Toronto fans.

Edit: The Montreal Screwjob has its own Wikipedia entry!

Man, was that ten years ago already? Nicely done, Toronto.

Good Ol' Toronto, I'm surprised they even travel up that way anymore... they'll never forgive him or Shawn Michaels for screwing Bret that night.

The Toronto crowd may be too bitter for their own good, but they pay money to remind Vince of something he did 10 years ago -- and that something helped turn Vince's struggling company back into the #1 wrestling promotion in America. Win-win!

Is your reading impaired?

Original poster: I'm surprised they still go.

Me: Here are reasons why they go.

Justin: Too complex! I love furries!

Well, it definitly did spark the "Vince McMahon = Villian" storylines that followed. I think DX, Stone Cold, and the Rock and the new "Attitude" era were the ones that really turned the tide for WWFE. I think they got back ahead in spite of the "villian" crap Vince was doing.

McMahon turning into the shows main villian only really worked when Stone Cold was there as sort of an "every workin mans hero" kinda deal getting to tell off and beat the crap out of his boss.

Three or four years ago I was at the ACC for a RAW (and Christian challenged (and lost) the Rock for his title). Earl reffed a match ... and all you could hear was a thunderous "You screwed Brett!" Who wrestled? It didn't matter. They couldn't have put each other over with bloody catapults. The crowd was focused on one guy.

No longer on-camera, Earl argued with crowd members and shot the crowd the finger as he stalked off-stage after the match. Acting? Pissed off? We'll never know.

Although the whole thing was kinda fun ... man, with Earl gone for the last couple years, that is one piece of kayfabe that may live forever.

Yeah, that was harsh. One misplaced boot to the noggin and your career is done :(

Goldberg was one of these guys that all sorts of power and speed, but no control or sense of timing, and that is a dangerous, dangerous combo. I think a lot of former football players turned Wrestlers have that problem.

I think Bret got a lot better since then, but still has balance issues sometimes.

Every time I hear that, I think "Wow, Toronto. Really? Still?"

It's a pity that Shawn's currently at home. No matter how over he is, he goes up there and instant Heel for a Night.
