Lost, The Next Day.
Interesting use of Flashbacks on the show this week. In addition to the actual character flashbacks on the show, which took us back to Charlie's 5 greatest moments in his life (including an appearance by Sayid's love Nadia, previously seen getting her house inspected by Locke), we flash back and forth on the island; we see Carl arrive to warn the lostaways, we see the meeting to discuss the invasion, we see Benry order his strike team to leave early and Carl leaves to warn the castaways. The show seems to be abandoning linear storytelling even more than it traditionally did.
Good to see Jack's been up to something. Also good to see an explanation as to why Rousseau just wandered into the black rock and grabbed the dynamite, although I wonder as to the wisdom of the Others leaving a big 'ol boat with dynamite in it just lying around.
Karl, once again, gets the crap beaten out of him. Poor kid. He tries so hard. Sayid is just SO violent.
Charlie does his heroic bit, although I think thwacking Desmond on the skull with an oar was slighly pointless. Trust me, Charlie, he would have let you go. So down he swam, and the flooded station was, in fact, not flooded and inhabited by hot chicks with guns.
And that was it. The episode felt like a middle act, setting things up for resolution later.
It was good to see Rose & Bernard there again, after their absence all season, although I suspect Bernard will not find his way through the season.
I'm not looking forward to two hours of Jackback next week, but we take what we get. Apparently, no new episodes will follow until next year. Man, I suddenly wish I hadn't been quite so gleeful in mocking BSG fans.

I actually think both he and Ben have lost it, and they'll take each other out. It won't be permanent. But it would be awesome. They're both totally alienating their followers!

Date: 2007-05-18 11:09 am (UTC)And I'm betting that when Charlie escapes his gun-toting babe captors, and flips the switch, the base WILL flood, and Charlie will drown. Just like Desmond saw. In the finale.
