Man, I thought the whole MJ satuesque statuette thingy was just a tempest in a d-cup, but apparently it's made the MSM: The Star has an article on it by resident semi-cool person Marlene Arpe.

Admittedly, it consists of mainly some press releases from Marvel and Sideshow and some message board quotes; apparently she was too tired to bother to contact a few of the local comic shops to get a few easy quotes.

I love how Sideshow's response is apparently "if you don't like it, don't look at it".

edit: Tempest in a d-cup? Statuesque statuette? Can I get a what what for how hilarious I is?

I love that the paper quotes "Someone called Simon". That is some laaaazzy writing.

It seems like when reporters quote online sources, they attribute to whatever name the source used. If it's a pseudonym or an incomplete name or a chat handle, they'll use it. They don't go tracking people down to get their real names.

I believe it was a poster on Feministe.

Yep. That was the response most people complaining got from Sideshow, other than having messages deleted from the forum.

That response if also on the Bingo Card! (http://girl-wonder.org/girlsreadcomics/index.php?entry=entry070415-071159) I wish I'd seen that when I was more actively anti-Pimp:TB.

Sad that the article doesn't even mention the bare feet. That's the part that for me put it over the top... it's the very essence of a stereotype that is used to make fun of traditional gender roles, and they walked right into it.

"barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen"

How about if I don't like it, I don't buy any more slideshow products? Asses.

The paint job makes it look like she's got some bad stuff going on just lower than the low-risers.
