As always, I sploil last night and speculate for later.

Heroes, One Day Later.

The story kind of slowed down this week. Apparently, they've decided that Mr. Nakamura will not be part of the Linderman conspiracy. Mama Patrelli, though, she's in it up to her neck.

So, let us take a moment to mourn Ted Kaczynzki, nucyoulear man. He may have had an explosive temper, and a personality that could be considered toxic, but he had a warm heart. Now, Syler has eaten his brain.

Now we have two candidates for the honourable title of Exploding Man, Sylar & Peter. They both have the mojo, and they both seem to have more control, and at least one of them has the callous disregard for human life that would allow him to go boom.

I was wondering, during Peter's countdown, if he'd remember that he can, you know, fly and turn invisible, and could get himself out of the area before he actually went off.

He did use his invisible power later on to escape from the feds, which was smart on his part. I love how Sylar played the feds for suckers. They so stupid!

Bennet is a cold hearted snake (look into his eyes!). Apparently the tracking system is little Molly. What's funny is if Suresh had cold-cocked Bennet instead of Parkman, he'd be home free, because Parkman, dick that he is, has yet to kill any kids, and has a certain amount of affection for little Molly.

Parkman using his ability to get into the building was neat; he used his ability to pull thoughts on the guard, and when he started to go dry, improvised by saying "you didn't want her to find out about your porno". Clever guy.

It was kind of convenient that everyone managed to get to NY, Niki and DL particularly. The problem with shows with large casts is it gets easy to lose someone (whatever happend to Rose & Bernard, for example?). DL's brain punch on Linderman was kinda brutal; mutant, heal thyself, I guess. At least he got to heal Heidi Petrelli.

Hmmm... Was the attack by Linderman's people ever explained? Were they trying to make Nathan 'awaken' his abilities, or was he just getting in the way as part of his DA duties? Linderman's been see-sawing about his old army buddy's son; assasination to bribery to asasination to making president.

Hiro & Dad was an odd situation. I mean, the exproding Man is going to go off the next day. How much swordplay can you teach someone in an afternoon? I mean, sure, one of them has the ability to stop time, so theoretically they could have trained for 20 months. Although the toilet and feeding situiation would have been tricky. At least Mr. Nakamura didn't take his shirt off and start chasing people.

Ando, of course, is acting heroic, which in his case means stupid. Oh, he's gonna get mulched if he tries to go up against Sylar. Appropriate that Mr. Claremont is the swordmaker; could have been Mr. Miller as well.

Someone mentioned that people who have two supers tend to manifest their abilities at puberty (as is the style fo the time) while people who don't tend to wait until adulthood. Claire, even though her dad was apparently latent at the time, manifested at puberty. Nathan and Peter's abilities, for example, were latent until adulthood. Niki's as well, although Micha expressed as a child. If this is correct, we can assume both of Molly's parents were supers; it's possible Sylar took the chill power from the mother and then absorbed whatever ability the father had after using it on him. Did we see evidence he'd consumed the mother's brain as well?

Nathan is also in it up to his knees. Poor Nathan; I guess you'll deserve whatever you get next week.

It seems likely that he will be involved next week, though. Note that we asee Suresh tending a wounded Parkman, looking at a light source that seems to be up in the sky; Niki, DL, Micah and Molly are also in the upper level looking at the same light. I assume what'll happen is Nathan will fly whichever guy is about to go Nuclear (money's on Peter, although Sylar is a possibility, even if he is booked for next year) up, up and away so NYC doesn't get devastated in a glorious act of self sacrifice.

The resolution of the Devereaux situation is also out there. Could Peter have been absorbing his initial presience from Mr. Deveraux, instead of Mama Petrelli as has been suggested?

Ah, well. One week left. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

I agree with you completely on Nathan biting the bullet next week. It pays off his "hard choices for the greater good" arc and ensures him a legacy. Interesting to note: he's got two sons of his own. Wonder if they'll be in the family business ...

Niki and DL would be an astounding assassin team, and I would love to see them running around doing that. Hopefully, DL's not dead. But I am unsure.

And I've thought Nathan was gonna fly one of them out when it all goes down - but is that how Sylar ends up -being- Nathan? Candace is there too... I will miss him, if he goes. And the Claire/Peter scenes are beginning to break my heart. I want them to be in love, and I know they can't, but they're so good together!

Deveraux saying in the preview that Mama bet on the wrong brother was interesting.

Also awesome: "I have a friend who eats like you. He's huge." "Yeah, well. So am I." Candace as basement boy? Silver Surfer #1?

The Global trailer had Deveraux talking to Mama.

And yeah, at first I assumed Candace was a woman - but she could be either. Either way, she's got some serious issues evidenced in her reasons why Linderman.

I will note that when a certain BSG character died, the producers and actor in question all said "yah [name] is really dead."

My hope is that Zach Quinto and the producers are all saying that Sylar is signed up for next season when in fact he's gonna be worm food this time next week.

Just because we've SEEN said BSG character RETURN, that doesn't mean she ISN'T dead. Or wasn't, for a while.

Maybe Hiro already KNEW Swordplay, and Papa Sulu was teaching him the state of mind he needed to KILL a man with it. Come on, Hiro's just the kind of geek who would have taken kenjiutsu lessons all his life.

And... Claire only FIGURED OUT her powers at puberty. That doesn't mean they weren't THERE. Same with the rest of'em -- though Matt's definitely DID Wake Up at a certain point.

In 6 Months Ago, she cut her hand and it stayed cut long enough for the folks at the ER to put in stitches. (But was fine days later.)

I don't think this logic works since both of the Petrelli parents had powers (we just haven't seen what they are yet).

Do we have any guess as to what Nakamura-san's power is? I'm stumped.

To paraphrase a friend "Nakamura-san has only the power of being awesome", he mentioned the clan had been waiting for someone in the clan to "ascend" that's pretty clearly a euphemism for "develop a power". That means Nakamura was awesome enough to run around with a bunch of supers and still hold his own without any powers. He was probably the group's Batman.

I'm pretty sure one of the the Petrelli parent's didn't have powers, they're involved with the agency which I think is only allied with the Linderman group. The agency tends to group a powered person with someone who has no powers. Linderman tends to group two powered people together to see what happens. I think Ma Petrelli has precognitive dreams, which explains her knowing far more than she should.

Splork?!?

That was the first "Cheat" I've seen on Heroes... that whole "shoot me in the head" cliffhanger turning into "...no! Wait! Hey, I can control this." That was the first lame moment I've seen on this program. It was like one of the "Lost" writers had infiltrated Heroes.

They can't kill Nathan. The only reason I started watching Heroes was for Adrian Pasdar. Granted, they have me hooked now, but I still want Mr. Pasdar.

Naw, I think he's hot.

Deep down I think he's Jim Profit.

Don't forget he thinks he's doing something for the greater good. He's an arrogant ass, but I think he thinks he's doing what's best. That's what makes him (and Linderman, incidentally) so incredibly dangerous to everyone. They are so caught up in deceptions that they can't figure out the basics anymore.

So Lindy is dead... shame. At this point, I think I might fairly enjoy whatever ending is coming.

But wasn't Heroes supposed to be a standalone show with no additional seasons, originally? I get the feeling things will go downhill from here.

It is indeed a shame Linderman died. But he got an AWESOME death scene. And in the end, isn't that the most any of us can hope for?

I'm guessing, or possibly fanwanking, that when Peter starts losing control of his nuclear powers that the experience is so stressful or painful that he won't be able to focus enough to fly.

Which is why Nathan has to be the one to fly Peter out of the city, in a redeeming moment of self-sacrifice. Maybe :)
