'80s Cartoon opennings.
Man, you know, Cringer was just huge, and did have the claws and fangs. Why was it such a pussy?
Oh, man. Did She Ra really have a winged horse?
Ohhhh. Inspector Gadget. CLASSIC.
Man, it takes some time to load. Full of fun for everyone (under 50, I suppose).
Sweet Jesus. Gilligan's Planet?

Date: 2007-04-30 04:45 am (UTC)Some thoughts:
- The Real Ghostbusters rocked in part because JMS was the series editor.
- Captain Lou Albano played Mario!
- Thundar the Barbarian was either based on or followed Jack Kirby designs.
- I'll always believe that Dungeon Master was a manipulative evil who brought these kids to his world and manipulated them to his bidding. That, and I hated Uni.

Date: 2007-04-30 05:01 am (UTC)Cringer was a pampered, spoiled, housecat and basically acted like one even though he was a 400lb green tiger. In a couple episodes though he does gain a little courage and saves the day, but it wasn't often.
Yes, She-ra had a winged horse... but you notice that since she was a woman that they didn't let her have any power. "Fabulous secrets", "By the Honor of Greyskull, I am She-ra!". C'mon it was the 80's they could have given her some power *lol* I guess they figured that "power" was too butch of a word to associate with a girls cartoon.
I wonder if the old Ghost busters cartoon was before or after the movie.
Some of the other ones... sheesh. I never even heard of and was thankful for that *lol* Gilligans Planet looked freaking aweful *shudder*

Date: 2007-04-30 06:05 am (UTC)She-Ra got the better of the two opening sequences for the Masters of the Universe cartoons.
And yes, some of those shows were just dire.
I'm surprised that there was no Flash Gordon! Best of Filmations waning use of Rotoscoped animation out of the bunch.

Observations
Date: 2007-04-30 06:23 am (UTC)* Real Ghostbusters was epic. Fave episode still has to be the one where the team has to bring back Mr. Stay-Puff (by this point portrayed as a jovial, if dim-witted force of nature) to even up the odds ... against a Samhain-related spirit, I believe.
* Holy crap, Bravestarr was Native American? I almost want to watch the series now.
* Hmm ... Dawn Wells voiced both Ginger and Mary Ann? That brings to mind all sorts of inappropriate thoughts.
* Anybody else ever wonder, when they were kids, why Optimus Prime was doing PR for Voltron? That was akin to Sinatra giving Andy Gibb props.
* What the hell is an Orbot?
* I hated that witch in Ducktales. But I hated Chip & Dale more.
* If Mega Man could get a show, why can't Solid Snake?
* DAMN, Ariel had some Shakira-hip action going, didn't she?
Er, strike that last one ...
* How was Beetlejuice rehabilitated between the movie and the cartoon, again?
* Wow, Blackstar looks a lot like Neil Diamond.
Re: Observations
Date: 2007-05-01 12:15 am (UTC)The Optimus Prime voiceover for Voltron freaked me out a little bit as well. But I think Voltron came on several years before the Transformers, so I guess its okay *lol*
I used to own a set of Orbots. They were like a combination of a Voltron rip off and the Constructicons from Transformers. They were a bunch of mining vehicles that could transform into one large robot. The toys were kinda cool (even though they came with those gay looking little robots), but I never actually saw the cartoon version.

Date: 2007-05-01 07:20 am (UTC)Wow that was a strange and sometimes wonderful random sampling.
By the gods I hated those video game shows. Bleh.
I'm so glad Thundar The Barbarian made the cut. It's one of my favorite cartoons of all time. I also watched Blackstar, and Bravestar, and of course Transformers. (Hell yeah).
I wasn't allowed to watch G.I. Joe because it was "american propoganda", to quote my mother. Same goes for He-Man, (although I can't to this day determine why).
I'm also glad Gilligan's Island was on here, not because it was good, (Hells no!), but because most people never belive me that it ever existed. (BTW there was a Happy Days cartoon in the same vein, where Fonzie had an alien dog.) ---(true)
