Apr. 27th, 2007 11:51 amYou know, I never thought I'd say this, but I wish I could find my copy of Cat. I've got an idea for something to plug into it (just a little beastie) and I just want to read the book and see if it would fit.
As with many things, it's inspired by my own cats, wonderful little devil darlings that they are.
Did my comic stop on the way to game (and found a
papajoemambo shaped hole in the world), and picked up the new Astro City. Hoo boy, I'm realizing I prefered the single issue stories to the longer serials. I mean, I know Busiek can do long stories, his first arc on Action and his Avengers run were both enjoyable, but the story of the two brothers just isn't catching fire with me. Seeing it from the street level is nice and all, but getting dribs of the story so slowly isn't endearing it to me.
52 #51 was fun. Could someone please tell me they haven' t gone back to the white suited Mack Bolan Wonder Woman stories? If they did, why wasn't she kicking Egg Fu ass? The revelation of what was on with Skeets was sweet, and makes things make sense now. I kind of wish they were doing a 52 page finale, coming out on 5/2, as long as they didn't charge $5.20 for it.
Wisdom #5 kicked a fair amount of ass. Once again, we see what Torchwood would have been like if Captain Jack wasn't an Emo douchebag. The ending was cute (although doubtless someone will make accusations of shenanigans related to Moore, since he did something similar recently).
I may wait until player #2 arrives in the future before digging into my dinner roti, as it gets awkward with me sitting there devouring my meal and the GM sitting there watching me like I should be narrated by David Attenborough.
Reminds me of the time I came back to the game room at Ad Astra and found a demo team leader licking the last crumbs out of the blueberry newtons I'd brought to eat that weekend. That fucker.
Pre-Game I also stopped in at Duelling Grounds to meet their new Envoy (who'd replaced, surprise, the same demo team leader) and get the free Shoulder Pads Action Iron Man fig. He can sit next to my "founder of the Avengers" IM and my "holy crap I actually drew one out of a booster" IM.

"Here, in a Toronto home, we see the common gamer, Roleplayus Regularis, as he prepares to devour his prey. He attacks it, ripping the wrapped curry to shreds, while his host, Gamius Masterus Majoris, looks on in silent horror. He stops only for a moment to drink his Coke Zero before proceeding on with his horrifying feast."

Date: 2007-04-27 09:12 pm (UTC)She Hulk: but don't ask me why. It's suffering from some of the same malaise that the rest of the MU has because of Civil War.
X-Men: only because it's written by Joss Whedon
Astro City; although if it didn't come out on a 'we'll get around to it eventually' schedule I'd drop singles and get the trades
52: almost done, and I can't believe I hung it for the whole thing. Will probably get Countdown as well.
Wisdom: Miniseries about Pete WIsdom, head of MI-13, UK Supernatural Intelligence dept.
Buffy Season 8: For my wife, mostly.
Spider-Man: just because it's written by Straczynski, although I've managed to miss most of his other stuff without complaint.
The Spirit: Darwyn Cooke's resurrection of the classic Eisner charcter, even though it's really my first exposure to him. The Spirit, that is. I've read Cooke's stuff before.
Nextwave: I'd be reading it regularly if, you know, they hadn't cancelled it.
Planetary: buy via trade, so I am stuck in the 4 year gap between tpbs for this line. It's neat, but not very deep.
Omega Flight: The hair shirt of Canadian Comics Fans
Can't think of anything else I get regularly, although there are probably a few things.

Date: 2007-04-28 03:25 am (UTC)I gotta say that you've got interesting taste in comics, buddy, although to be fair, I don't read a lot of comics in terms of different titles (well, at least I didn't until the whole line of CrossGen comics came out - but that company's gone the way of the dodo.
Then again, you bought all the issues of 52. I just read the synopses of them on Comic Spoilers B (http://comicspoilers.blogspot.com/).
But what do I know? Hmm perhaps I should do a blog on comics on my own blog. :)
Ow!
