Another fucking sick day. I've got mucus in every head hole.

On the plus side, I picked up Astro City Local Heroes today. Damn fine book. I"m gonna buy Kurt a beer next time I see him.

Heh. Bumped into Kurt Busiek at San Diego Comic Con a few years ago. It was a bit of a thrill, since he was the reason I started reading comics again (Astro City & his run on Avengers). I caught him as he was leaving hte booth and gave him the standard "you're the reason I've gotten back into reading comics." I figure he gets that all the time.

Got GI Joe 14, which is slowly dropping off of my pull list. The nostalgia isn't worth $10 a month (especially for the less than thrilling art in the Hama book, or his nicer than nice attempt to play "those firemen, they're the real heroes".

Generations 3 is interesting; they're flashing forward a century at a time; Earth just got destroyed at the end of #2.

Byrne's original series' were interesting, and I hope he can keep it up for 12 issues of this. Can't wait to get to the Legion (we got Saturn Girl in issue #1, and it looks fairly standard silver age Legion).

Interesting dream last night. Don't remember anything, but I know I was talking to Cindy in it and she said SOMETHING, and I replied "why do you say that?"

Now, the interesting thing is I'd woken up because of my cold, and while it was the Dream Cindy who'd said something, I asked it of the actual wife.

Yes, odd.

Now, I go upstairs, drink Neo Citran, and sleep on couch until wife calls.

Is that GI Joe as in 'fighting Cobra and Destro'? Number 14? What's up with that? Are they republishing the issues from the '80s? Is this some kind of revival? Enquiring-minds-who-are-easily-distratced-by-all-the-T-&-A-when-in-actual-comic-shops-where-they-could-find-this-out want to know!

Nope. There's a new GI Joe series out, detailing their current adventures. The team's gotten back together (aside from Bazooka, who has to lose weight, and Alpine, who's working as an accountant now).

The main series is the current adventures, while the flashback (Front Line, IIRC) is written by LAarry Hama, drawn by a pack of angry monkeys, and details the adventures of GI Joe after they were shut down by the Jugglers. It is not as good as the main series, which is occasionally quite enjoyable.

Actually, the main book isn't that hot. There was an okay Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow fight sequence a couple issues back, but the last story, about a super BAT loose in a city somewhere didn't catch my fancy.

I'll read the next issue and decide. My pull list is fairly short.

No way - GI Joe was really the only comic I ever collected (except for a less than a year flirtation with X-men - after that I just read my friend's copies) - but that was a long time ago. Still - which version of the team reformed? I mean there were hundreds of them by the end, weren't there? Do they still have Sgt. Slaughter and William 'The Refridgerator' Perry? Oh well, the only character anyone really remembered was Snake Eyes... Is it Marvel that's doing it?

It's being published by Image; Hawk's in charge (dunno how many stars he's got by now)and Duke's Top Kick. It's really pretty good. They've now got 'generic Joes' because it's hard to fight cobra with 20 guys. No Fridge, no Sarge.
