So, yes, after Saturday's excitement, Sunday was mostly spent sitting on the couch watching TV. Admittedly, part of it was spent watching found BBC broadcasts, including the Dr. Who cast appearance of The Weakest Link (they had the Anne-Droid!) and Who 0301.

Enjoyable start, and the Moon effects didn't suck at all. The rhino police were interesting, although I think much more menacing on TMNT. Good launch for the season, although I damn the internet for just telling me who Mr. Saxon was. Damn you, internet!

After that, I scrubbed off and headed to [livejournal.com profile] luciancarter's house for 'Mania. Picked up [livejournal.com profile] noizangel en route. I took my copy of Avalon Hill's Wrasslin', assuming that seeing 'Mania with two geeks would be good impetus to maybe crack it open, but no joy in mudville. Someday.

Dave did give me some HC boosters as a Christmas present. I pulled out two U's from the four boosters, which was good; I got the Gold Armour IM and Eclipso (Dibney Killer).

The PPV was not impressive. Billionaire Battle was kind of lame (couldn't the Donald have spent ten minutes learning how to take a stunner?) and pre-destined, the Lumberjill match seemed designed to just give a few Divas a 'Mania check (pity the poor locker room loyalists who were in the dark lumberjack match). And why is it so hard to watch 'Mania without turning into Frank Miller?

The impromptu party with Rhyme Tyme and Eugene that allowed a bunch of people (Irwin R. Shyster?!? Slick? Ricky Steamboat?) to also get 'Mania checks was a highlight. Good to see May Young and Moolah. Bad to see them in tights.

The MitB match was enjoyable (if you watch slowly, you can see one of the leprechaun's kidnies shoot out of his mouth when he & Mr. Kennedy (Kennedy) land).

Taker/Batista was, well, a Taker Wrestlemania match. Eh. I just don't LIKE Undertaker.

Cena/Micheals was well excecuted, but dull.

The problem with 'Mania this year was, it was too easy to predict. Batista has been so bad the past few months there was no way 'Taker wasn't winning the World belt (ironically, this was Big Dave's best match since his return); Cena is The Future, so his win was also a fait accompli. There was no way Trump was going bald. And even Kennedy's win in the ladder match was a foregone conclusion, though that match did give us arguably the show's two "WrestleMania Moments" in Hardy's dive through the ladder and the Kenton bomb on the midget.

You might want to put the DW stuff under a cut, for those who are waiting for June.

Except he didn't spoil anything.

Steamboat is a backstage agent/producer. This segment was great. Interesting to see Jimmy Hart there, with the upcoming Hogan indy dates and Jimmy always being Hogan's pal ...

Way better than we could hope any Batista match could be.

Overall a pretty dull show, though -- NOT as good as the buildup.
