Okay, over in wacky-land, Indecipherable Brad has once again come forward to dispense something like wisdom. Or possibly just needs to up his dosage. Or, God willing, he's just doing an April Fool.

In any case, now he's decided that The Taliban's been going easy on us, but now that they know we've got pagans in our army, look out!

Okay, yeah, I really, REALLY hope it's just an AF joke, because otherwise I've finally discovered someone with a sense of pagan entitlement: "Oh, they may hate us for being non-Islamic westerners who've invaded their country, but now that they know we harbour pagans, we're screwed!"

I hope this is his rather stupid-sounding April Fool's joke (like most April Fool's joke are), but given some of the utter goofiness he's posted on occasion, I fear it's likely real. He makes many useful and interesting posts, but he also does about half as many that are utterly wacked.

I was rather pleased with what I wrote at the end of my response to him over this -

If you and fellow members of your faith are being continually kicked by gang of people wearing boots, the fact that one of the people is wearing a color of boot that you personally dislike isn't terribly relevant. In this case, being Wiccan is merely a minor detail on the color of the jackboots being directed by the US against Muslims both in and outside its borders.

I decided to write an answer. Frankly, since he claims he's serious the short answer is so what? If some people decide to go join the Taliban over this, well, I understand his fear that people will die because of that. But frankly, we shouldn't have to stop being who we are to appease anyone.

My tolerance for other's people beliefs end when they decide my people have to die for our beliefs. And I'm not talking about pagans.

Yeah, I saw that. It's difficult to ake that discussion terribly seriously over there, though. It's like they desperately want to be reassured of their importance in Teh Great War of Civilizations(tm).
