This truly is a shame. Imagine how effective military would be in EFFECTIVE body armour. This guy deserves a mint printing money just for him for the lives and injuries he would save in our troops.

He drove from North Bay to Hamilton in it for an interview just to prove a point.

Another example of progress derailed by government. They should have bought it from him.

It's not practical for infantry - they need all of their flexibility and mobility, and giving them an extra 50 lbs (the stated weight of the suit) to wear would be an awful encumberance on top of the standard kit load. I'm sure that it would have some applications, but on a standard deployment, the suits would likely very quickly be left behind, I'm sad to say. But if you check his Wikipedia article (linked to above) the fire paste and 1313 paste he's developed look like they have a lot of potential...

Seems to me there's a Hollywood movie waiting to be made about a vigilante-type who builds one of these suits to fight crime. Maybe make one that doesn't suck (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120207/)? Somebody put this man in touch with Hollywood!!!

Is there any body armour already included in the standard kit weight? Because it looks like it would have included a fair amount of that, in addition to other tools.

Maybe for SWAT or something. Who knows?

I still think the Angel Light is just too cool to let go unexamined.

Yeah, we have body armour - it's heavy, but it fits under the other kit, and doesn't inhibit mobility *too* much. I could still run, duck, weave, bob, and do all of those other funky things to avoid somebody trying his best to do to me what I was trying to do to him.

The Trojan suit may be bullet-proof, but there's still quite an impact to be felt - a good machine-gun burst, even if it doesn't penetrate the suit, would probably "turtle" the occupant, who might then be at the mercy of anyone with a can opener...

The guy admitted playing tennis in the outfit. Sounds pretty flexable to me.

Has anything been seen, visuals wise? I know the cast (what I know of it) looks good, as Downey is the best choice to play a guy who keeps ruining his life.

The average soldier is already carrying 50+ lbs of gear, including munitions, rations, communications, and other such stuff. Some of it might be integrated into the suit, but it still adds weight to already-heavy soldiers. Here's a thought - in a water crossing, what happens if a soldier falls into the river wearing one of these things? I can probably shrug off the tac vest and armour they wear now, but one of these suits would be a death trap...

Let's see him run a "confidence course" (the army's cutesy name for obstacle courses) wearing one, then I might be willing to talk (but see my comment about water crossings, below)

While the Troy suit is descended from the Grizzly suits, I don't think it offers the same level of protection against ursine molestation... To bears, somebody wearing one of those is likely just a canned hors d'oeuvre. (Never wrestled a bear, but I've met more than a few, on their turf instead of mine. Luckily no grizzlies - mostly black bears, which are generally about as dangerous as a poodle, only larger and much smellier.)

They have already said IronMan would only be CGI for stuff they cant make him do in the suit. (Like they did with Spiderman) So Downey has to actually WEAR the armour too. Very cool.
