We've watched Frailty & Strange Brew so far.

SB has very few extras (a pilot for a Bob & Doug animated series, which is... amusing, and a Canadian/English glossary), and Frailty has more (including a pair of commentaries, neither of which I've listend to yet).

Both were enjoyable. SB is showing its age (not as poorly as Buckaroo Banzai or that abortion of a Flash Gordon remake, but few things do!), but is still amusing. I never saw before that Rosie was Ophelia. He goes mad, and he drowns.

Frailty was quite cool. Bill Paxton did a good job on both sides of the camera, especially with the kids.

Yes, yes, must still return Minority Report. Willg et to it shortly.

Abortion of a Flash Gordon remake? What the hell are you smoking?

Glad you nailed him on this first. I mean really: has watching all that Buffy really atrophied your esthetic senses so much that you don't like Flash Gordon? He's the Hero of the Universe. Queen can't be wrong about this much at least.

It's like Rocky Horror Picture Show, except good, and made especially for nerds.

You have encapsulated the show perfectly. At least for me. And also explained why I detest it. Good show.

Oh, also, Bitterguy - you dissed Flash without watching it again? It's got Max Von Sydow, Brian Blessed, Timothy Dalton, Ornella Muti, a Queen soundtrack and guys with golden skulls on their battle-armour. I challenge you to write a script that wouldn't rock with all those elements!

I meant that Flash Gordon was (IMO) like a more entertaining version of Rocky Horror made especially for nerds, but I can see how confusion would arise through my lack of specificity.

Is specificity a word?

Despite the fact that I don't think 'specificity' is a word, you have just given the neatest and cleverest encapsulation of the charm of Flash (right down to the slumming English actors and blond muscle men in underwear) that I have ever heard or read - good show!

Specificity is very much a word. The quality of the dialog on Buffy must be declining even further than I've heard.

(Sorry had to redo this post - complex nature of it, you understand)

It's like Rocky Horror Picture Show, except good, and made especially for nerds.

You have encapsulated the show perfectly. At least for me. And also explained why I detest it. Good show.

One of three things has just happened here, and I for one would like clarification:

a) Pyat said Flash Gordon was like the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, James agreed and said that's why he didn't like Flash Gordon. In which case, Pyat: 'good call' and James: 'what are you smoking?'

b) Pyat said Buffy was like the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, James agreed and said that's why he didn't like Buffy. In which case - Pyat: 'what are you smoking?' and James: 'oh never mind...'

c) Pyat said Flash Gordon was like the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, James thought he was talking about Buffy, agreed that Buffy was like the Rocky Horror Picture Show and said that's why he didn't like Buffy. In which case - Pyat: 'good call' and James: 'what are you smoking?' and also 'oh never mind...'

Help me...

I still think Piet's comment stands, however much I misinterpreted it.

I know this sounds like flame-bait but I am really genuinely asking because I do not know (or more likely, don't remember). Have you ever seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show?

I attended college. Of course, I've seen it.

Ahhh, shouldn't you be vommiting or something?

As I have explained on numerous occasions, I don't watch Buffy.
