Is there a word for when you forget something you were going to say that you're pretty sure would be very interesting?

This morning, I had an idea for a post that I thought would blow the roof off the mother. Seriously, I have no idea what the post was about, but I can remember thinking it would go over well. I remember going "someone will metaquotes this for SURE!", which is just the saddest fucking thing I've ever said via my internal monologue.

I know the French have a phrase for thinking of something to say afterwards, when it's too late to do any good. I can't recall one for forgetting something very neat. There's probably a term for it in German.

The only thing I can think of is "Brain Fart", which is what we use when something just leaves your mind.
