Reading funnybooks
Jan. 21st, 2007 02:13 pmVisited the MPL yesterday to pick up some stuff, and wandered over to the Graphic Novel section for some Reads. Got 300, Miller's handjob to Reason and Democracy (aka military oligarchies). Beautiful, as always. The movie will be an interesting thing, as it looks like yet another director has decided to use Miller as his storyboarder.
Also got a copy of Eisner's New York Life in the Big City. From what I can see, it's a compilation of several books, including New York, the Building, City People Notebook, and Invisible People. Each of them has several stories within them. I like the full page sketches of streets. Not specific streets, but types of streets: angry streets, empty streets, and sad streets.
Not a terribly cheerful book, of course, but that's life in the big city.
