thebitterguy: (What a twist!)

Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, the time has come for the ultimate battle: these two titans of taffy town, these masters of the all day sucker, the Oompa Loompas and the Munchkins.

One hails from Munchkinland in Oz, the other from Deepest Darkest Africa/Loompa Land. From both come delicious candies and ominous moral lessons and tunes to soothe the soul of the weary traveler or the excited schoolchild.

So! Who shall it be? Loompas? Or Munchkins?

[Poll #907970]

* In fact, this battle is technically between the Oompa loompas and the Lollypop Guild, but that’s pedantic quibbling beneath even the readers of this fine publication

To quote a webcomic (the title of which escapes me):

"Is Munchkinland dangerous?"
"Well... there are only about three dozen of them..."
"And...?"
"And they need a full-time coroner."

But we pretty much see the entirety of Munchkinland in the "Yellow Brick Road" sequence. It's like... six houses and a bird's nest. Even three dozen Munchkins would be packed pretty tight.

It really depends which version of the Oompa Loompas we're dealing with here. the Disney Oompas wouldn't stand a chance against the fearsome might of the Lollipop Guild's hardened candy-dealers, but the many tiny clones of Deep Roy could probably take them.

The tiny clones were stupid. They wouldn't do anything but sing stupid songs. Cuz they're stupid. Stew-pid.

I agree Deep Roy Oompas would kick ass.

They so would.

BTW, that is a most psychedelic icon.

Ah, right. I'll get to it eventually, I suppose... when I'm done wading through concert footage, Sesame Street, and 80s videos. :D

Dahl's original Oompa Loopa's were African pygmies used to hunting and gathering, the Munchkins were just silly.

If you're gonna bring Dahl's original Oompas into the equation, you've gotta compare them to Baum's original Munchkins.

Of course, it's been three decades since I read Baum...

I think in retrospect it would a more fair but bloodier fight.

I think those Munchkins had guns.

I have loyalty to Oz but those Oompa Loompas (and I'm thinking of the original movie ones, the orange guys) were damn scary, they may be able to take me!
