Grizzly Man Troy Hurtubise has apparently finally realized he's building powered armour and decided to say "fuck the bears!" Thankfully, he means figuratively.

Apparently, his trip to NFS was this past weekend. Dammit, that would ahve been cool.

I'm also dissapointed [livejournal.com profile] whisper_jeff seems to have scooped [livejournal.com profile] pyat. The Crunch is powerful, indeed.

The whole suit -- which draws design inspiration from Star Wars, RoboCop, Batman and video games -- is made from high-impact plastic lined with ceramic bullet protection over ballistic foam.
Its many features include compartments for emergency morphine and salt, a knife and emergency light. Built into the forearms are a small recording device, a pepper-spray gun and a detachable transponder that can be swallowed in case of trouble.

Emergency morphine and salt; if you get a limb blown off, or if your soup is bland. $2000 each, eh? I might get one of those myself.

He looked a lot like the Master Chief in that get up.

You know he drove down to Hamilton wearing that get-up, don't you? Complete with the helmet on? He was stopped by the police, but after he proved to the bemused officer he could see perfectly well (and that his guns clipped on by magnets were only dummy weapons), they sent him on his way.

...they'd likely have shot him with a bazooka if he'd done that.

But that probably wouldn't have stopped him.

And (all together now...)

Hurtibise was going to be the Canadian government's equivalent of "Q" in my Mutants and Masterminds game

I have to agree with the prev "loon" comment, but you know what they say... it takes all kinds...

Anybody else notice the suit's name?

Yeah. The "Trojan". As in Trojan Horse, or as in the condom?

Either way, probably not a connotation I want associated with something meant to preserve my butt in a combat zone. But maybe that's just me?

I wouldn't want to get close enough to the guy to be able to read the label... if you catch my meaning...

"Trojan" as in "comes from Troy". A guy named Troy, in this case.

Okay, so no unsavoury connotations if that's the case (darn), but why not just slap a big "Made with love by Troy in Thunder Bay" sticker on it, sort of like Grandma used to do with those sweaters she used to knit?

Huh. I thought he was dead. Well, I guess the suit works...

Maybe, like Fury, he should strike up a deal with the Crocs manufacturers, make it more lightweight...

I guess I am crazy for loving the bear suit guy. Salt is actually to keep you alive by preventing you for being dehydrated.
